GILBERT PORTELA SR. TO BE NAMED 2012 DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS AWARD BY BSA
The Boys Scouts of America will honor Gilbert Portela Thursday May 31st as its 2012 Distinguished Citizen.
Portella has assisted young people for more than two decades in sports, tutoring, and more recently working to start Angel's Closet to help children and famlies in need.

Al Haskins, Keith Hundley, Earl Telliga and Clayton Sledge
Longtime First Media Radio announcer and former news director for WPTM, Earl Telliga was "roasted" Monday night as part of the Roanoke Avenue Business Alliance's monthly roasts.
Earl was also honored for his more than 40 years of service to the Roanoke Rapids High School Athletic Department. Earl was presented a plaque for serving as "the voice" of the Yellow Jackets as PA announcer.
Earl was also surpised by two of his former co-workers Clayton Sledge and Keith Hundley both of whom worked at WCBT.
