LouAnn (Louie) Bowen, is a North Carolina native and lifetime entertainer. After graduating from Kinston High School, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English from North Carolina State University (1990).
Louie has been self-employed her entire adult career. In 1998, she purchased inventory from the iconic Magic Corner (formerly on Hillsborough Street) and opened Hughie & Louie’s Costumes, Magic and More in Concord, North Carolina. Having success with that venture, she leased space in Raleigh’s Oak Park Shopping Center (Glenwood Avenue) in early 2000 and opened a larger Hughie & Louie’s operation. That business currently specializes in costume rental, including theatrical-quality garments, plus retail of costumes, theatrical makeup, costume accessories, magic, novelties, clown supplies, and other entertainment-related goods. Hughie & Louie’s also provides and brokers entertainers, performers, and artists, mostly for corporate functions and street festivals. Hughie & Louie’s continues to operate at that same Raleigh location today. p>,Louie recently opened Oak Park Tea Room.in Raleigh.She is a family entertainer and enjoys performing at churches and public venues as LuLubelle Laughinwell. She is known as “Louie,” “Raleighwood,” and “Doggie Diva,” a morning co-host (Mondays through Fridays) on the Lundy & Friends radio show on Rocky Mount’s WDWG 98.5 – The Big Dawg. Louie is now a funtastic part of WPTM 102.3 Lake Country as mid day host
Louie formerly served a two-year term (2006-2007) on the North Carolina Department of Labor’s Ad Hoc Amusement Device Advisory Board. She is engaged in affairs pertaining to Raleigh business, especially matters regarding signage and displays. She is a fervent supporter of local shopping and a promoter of small business.
