“We have a number of people who help us carry out the mission of Halifax Community College. Most of these are through our partnerships,” said Griffin. “This is our way of recognizing organizations that are committed to helping the college fulfill its mission.”

First Media Radio LLC owns six popular radio stations in the area including 102.3 WPTM, The Great 98 WTRG 97.9 FM, 99.5 JAMZ, 107.7 3WD, AM 1230 The Score ESPN Radio, Rejoice 1400 WSMY AM & WNVN TV 20. First Media Radio Station’s goal is to provide entrainment, music and information to the people of the Roanoke Valley and Southside Virginia. First Media Radio is known for being in the community, and helping out many of the areas non-profit organizations and schools. First Media Radio's Operations Manager and Program Director C.J. Riddick was present to accept the award.

NAWBO Charlotte Announces Finalists for Annual Rising Star and Woman Business Owner of the Year Awards  

--Natalie English Named 2010 Community Service Award Winner--

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 2, 2010) – The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Charlotte Chapter today announced the finalists for the organization's prestigious annual Rising Star and Woman Business Owner of the Year awards. The group of female entrepreneurs also named Natalie English the 2010 Community Service Award Winner. All will be honored at the organization's 25th Annual Awards celebration on May 4 at The Palmer Building.

The Community Service Award is presented annually to a member of the business community who has made outstanding achievements in support of women in business and women business owners. The 2010 Winner, Natalie Haskins English, SVP of Public Policy at the Charlotte Chamber, manages the Chamber's efforts to affect policy relating to business issues at the city, county, state, federal and school board levels of government.

"Natalie's long term efforts as the voice for business at all levels of government combined with her tireless contributions to the community, make her a great choice for our Community Service Award," said Brannan. "As beneficiaries of her work, our membership looks forward to thanking her in person at our awards celebration."
